The federal government has ordered the immediate closure of 47 Federal Government Colleges (unity schools) across the northern region due to escalating security threats.

In a  circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, Secondary School Principals were directed to comply with the circular forthwith.

“Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breaches, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of the listed Federal Unity Colleges,” the circular stated, directing all principals to ensure full compliance.
