NAF graduates 55 cabin crew, air traffic control assistants, base operations personnel

The Air Traffic Services Training Centre(ATSTC) of the NIgerian Air Force Kaduna, has graduated 55 Cabin Crew, Air Traffic Control Assistants and Base Operation personnel.

Out of the figure, 19 were for Initial Cabin Crew 1/2025, 18 for A2-A1 Air Traffic Control Assistants and 18 for A3-A2 Base Operations upgrade course 8/2025.

The ceremony was held on Friday at the Air Traffic Services Training Centre, Kaduna.

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar , who was the Special Guest of Honour congratulated the graduates for attaining the enviable feat.

The Airforce Chief who was represented by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Training Command , AVM Ahmed Dari
said, “It is imperative to note that the ATSTC became accredited as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to conduct professional civil aviation courses including Air Traffic Control, Flight Despatch and Cabin Crew Courses.

“In order to sustain the accreditation, therefore, HQ NAF graciously approved the conduct of the licence courses as expected”

According to him, the centre had commenced the conduct of various courses, including the maiden Air Traffic Control and Surveillance Radar Course, Cabin Crew Refresher Course, and Initial Cabin Crew Course.

The CAS emphasised the importance of training in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), highlighting its role in transforming the force into an agile and resilient one that meets the airpower needs for national security.

He highlighted the crucial roles and responsibilities of Cabin Crew professionals and Air Traffic Control Assistants/Base Operators in ensuring safety and efficiency in air operations.

Abubukar also emphasised the importance of his Command Philosophy, which focuses on deliberate training and mission-oriented force development.

He urged the graduates to seize the opportunity to make a positive impact in the service and contribute to the upliftment of air operations.

Abubakar also charged them to be professional and show exemplary conduct, urging the graduates to be good ambassadors of the centre and NAF.

The chief of the air staff thanked President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria in general and NAF in particular.

Abubakar implored the graduates to deploy to duty and sacrifice their best towards defending the territorial integrity of the nation.

Earlier, the Commandant , ATSTC, AVM Nosiru Folaji, said the ceremony marked the successful completion of training for a set of young airmen and airwomen who have been trained on cabin crew and air traffic control assistance/base operations specialties.

He said the centre was accredited as an Approved Training Organization (ATO) by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to conduct professional civil aviation courses, including Air Traffic Control, Flight Despatcher, and Cabin Crew courses.

He noted that the graduates will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and efficiency in NAF’s air operations and the integrity of the Nigerian airspace.

The commandant emphasised the importance of values and principles such as integrity, discipline, teamwork, and attention to detail in the aviation industry.

He stressed the need for continuous learning and professional development in the aviation industry.

The commandant appealed for further development of the centre, including the construction of additional facilities, to enable it to run multiple courses simultaneously.

He said the centre was currently undergoing infrastructure development, including the construction of student officers’ accommodation and the installation of Air Traffic Control Pro Simulator for surveillance radar training.

While congratulating the graduates on their achievements, he wished them safe and successful careers in the service of the nation. The commandant also expressed gratitude to the instructors and staff of the institution for their dedication and commitment to excellence.
