Taraba police Command arrests suspects linked to the killing of 3 police officers, recover rifles

In a major breakthrough, the Taraba state police Command announced the arrest of two suspects linked to the brutal killing of three police officers in Donga local government area of the state.

The suspects were named as ‎Suleman Abdullahi, 30 years and ‎Idris Kauri, 33 years while efforts are still on to arrest their accomplices.

Though the Command’s ‎Acting Police Public Relations Officer,   ASP Victor Mshelizah in a statement said the suspects are in custody, whitewatersdigest.com gathered that the suspects have been moved to Abuja for further investigations. Both suspects are from Akente Village, Donga LGA.

It will be recalled that armed men, suspected to be Fulani Bandits have killed three policemen and two civilian members of a Vigilante group in Tor Damisa Akate Ward in Donga Local government Area of Taraba state.

The five men were killed in an ambush shortly after they were dropped in the Village by the Divisional police officer of the local government, following a distress call that bandits had laid siege to the community.

After killing the policemen, the bandits who were said to be well armed, went away with the service rifles of the policemen. The service rifles have also been recovered from the suspects

‎In another development, a team of police officers attached to the Zing Divisional Police Headquarters, while conducting stop-and-search operations at Yonko, intercepted two suspects identified as: ‎Torme Terzugwe, 39 years, of Kwande LGA, Benue State ‎Job David, 35 years, of Toungo LGA, Adamawa State

A statement by the Taraba state police commands said the suspects were intercepted while riding an unregistered motorcycle en route to Ganye LGA, Adamawa State. Upon thorough search, 304 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.

The Command will continue to strengthen collaboration with community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders in enhancing community policing and intelligence gathering.

“‎Members of the public are also urged to remain vigilant and support the efforts of security agencies by providing timely and useful information. The Command reiterates its watchword: “If you see something, say something.”
