The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has been elected as the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Yilwatda’s emergence was formally announced on Thursday during the national executive committee (NEC) meeting of the APC in Abuja, where party leaders gathered to chart a new direction ahead of the 2027 general election.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who heads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, announced the motion and it was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
Nentawe was immediately sworn in thereafter. He took the oath of office at 02:50 PM in the presence of party bigwigs across Nigeria.
Nentawe, who hails from Plateau State, North Central Zone, was the APC’s Governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.
