The Taraba State Police Command has commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Week, in line with the nationwide programme of events organized by the Nigeria Police Force to commemorate the annual National Police Day Celebration.
A statement by ASP Victor Mshelizah, Ag. Police Public Relations Officer of the command said the first day of the activities featured a public sanitation exercise and free medical outreach, which commenced at about 0700 hours, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Morkwap S. Dongshal psc(+), alongside senior police officers, personnel of the Command, members of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), and other stakeholders.
“The sanitation exercise covered strategic areas within the state capital, beginning from the Command Headquarters and proceeding through major streets up to the Jalingo Emir’s Palace, with the aim of promoting environmental cleanliness and strengthening police-community relations.
In addition, a free medical outreach programme was organized for members of the public, where medical personnel provided basic health consultations, medical check-ups, and distribution of essential medications to residents, particularly targeting vulnerable members of the community.
Speaking during the exercise, CP Morkwap S. Dongshal emphasized that the National Police Week activities are designed to foster stronger collaboration between the Police and the public while encouraging community participation in building a safer and healthier environment.
The Commissioner of Police further reiterated the Command’s commitment to community-oriented policing and urged residents of Taraba State to continue supporting the Police with credible information that will assist in crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.
The Taraba State Police Command appreciates members of the public and community leaders who participated in the exercise and assures the good people of the state of its unwavering dedication to maintaining peace, law, and order across the state.
