Lawmaker condemns Governor Alia’s ‘divide and rule tactics’

Hyacinth Alia

A member of the House of Representatives Terseer Ugbor has warned the Benue state governor, Hyacinth Alia against what he described as “divide and rule tactics,” saying it was inimical to the unity and interest of the state.

Ugbor, who represents Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency of Benue State, stated this in Makurdi where he represented the Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume at the wedding reception of Mkehemba Tachin and Eseche Ikhide.

He said it was “unfathomable” that the Governor would launch a security outfit to fight insecurity in the state yet, members of the National and State Assembly from the state were not invited.

He pledged that although he disagreed with Governor Alia’s governance style, members of the National Assembly, State Assembly and federal appointees from the state will continue to work together for the unity and development of the state.

Appealing to Nigerians over the hardship in the country, Ugbor said that the reforms embarked upon by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will sanitize the Nigerian economy.

He reiterated the need for Nigerians to give the tax reform bills presented to the National Assembly by president Bola Tinubu a chance, saying that the bills contain several benefits for the country.
