The Nasarawa State Government has restated its commitment to completing the planned Karu flyovers and underpass projects before the end of its administration in 2027.

The project, which has received approval from the Federal Government, aims to alleviate persistent traffic congestion in the Mararaba area of Karu Local Government Area.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, Mr Peter Ahemba, stated this Tuesday during a bimonthly Press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Press Centre in Lafia.

According to him, government has set aside funds for the projects even before they were conceived.

“The government would complete any project it has initiated and started because it does not believe in wasting money and abandoning projects,” Ahemba said.

He said government plans to construct two flyovers and an underpass to ease movement for residents, motorists, and travelers, while also enhancing road quality and durability.

The governor’s aide noted that the Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency would conduct a feasibility study and assessment to determine the suitable locations for the projects.

On the security situation in the state, Ahemba assured that government was committed to supporting security agencies with technological gadgets to enhance surveillance and intelligence gathering.

“The government has adopted new strategies to deal with the pockets of kidnapping and other security challenges in the state.

“I assure you that the security agencies, in collaboration with other stakeholders, would do everything possible to flush the criminals out of the state,” he said.

The SSA said government has approved plans for an Education Summit to discuss the future of basic education in the state, scheduled to take place before the end of 2025.

He added that the State government has also procured 20,000 plastic and wooden chairs for distribution to Primary Schools across the state to address the shortage of chairs and ensure students’ comfort while learning.
