Former governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom has debunked media rports that he has joined the All progressive Congress APC, adding that he still remain a “proud and committed” member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a statement made available to journalists and signed by Terver Akase, Ortom’s Media Adviser/Consultant, the former governor noted that the report of his dumping the PDP was “false and Baseless”.
“The attention of the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom has been drawn to a fake and deliberately misleading report circulating on social media claiming that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The report is false, baseless, and a mischievous fabrication by a gang of desperate social media urchins sponsored by political opponents who are clearly unsettled by Chief Ortom’s continued relevance and influence.
“As part of their infantile scheme, the agent provocateurs and fake news merchants went as far as manufacturing a fake APC membership card, falsely attributing it to Chief Ortom, and circulating same online in a failed attempt to deceive the public. This act is not only irresponsible but exposes the depth of desperation among those behind it.
“Chief Samuel Ortom remains a proud, committed, and influential member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is the leader of the party in Benue State and a respected member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT). Those spreading such lies can only wish, because wishful thinking is all they have left.
“Members of the public are hereby urged to disregard and ignore the falsehood in its entirety” the statement stated.
