THE Senator representing Taraba South in the National Assembly, Senator David Jimkuta, has dismissed allegations that he pocketed N500 million earmarked for women empowerment across his senatorial district, describing the claims as baseless, false, and misleading.

Jimkuta denied ever receiving such an allocation from any government agency or non-governmental organisation, challenging his accuser to present verifiable evidence.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Taraba South, Dr. Jessy Adi Ashumate, had during the launch of his senatorial campaign over the weekend accused Jimkuta of diverting public funds intended for grassroots capacity building.

Reacting to the accusation through the Director-General of his Campaign Organisation, Hon. Garleya Gambo Suntai, Senator Jimkuta noted that the PDP candidate failed to back his allegations with facts.

Suntai said: “Everyone expected the PDP candidate to inform the public about where the N500 million originated, when it was released, and his source of information. Instead, he resorted to throwing unsubstantiated claims into the public space.

“The people of Taraba South are fully aware of the massive interventions delivered by Senator Jimkuta, including the recent distribution of tractors and fertiliser worth over N3 billion.”

He stated that the lawmaker is currently on an official mission abroad to procure modern borehole drilling equipment to provide clean drinking water across all communities in the southern senatorial zone ahead of the 2027 polls.

Suntai urged opposition politicians to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than mudslinging, questioning Ashumate’s developmental track record during his tenure as a former Commissioner for Finance in the state.
