Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria after serving out her prison terms in the United Kingdom for organ harvesting.

According to the Daily Post, she arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday after serving a UK court sentence for conspiring with her husband, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and their associate, Dr. Obinna Obeta to bring a young Nigerian man to the UK to harvest his kidney for their ailing daughter.

After a six-week trial at the Old Bailey, they were found guilty of facilitating the travel of a young man to Britain with a view to his exploitation.

Premium Times quoted an unnamed former aide of the former Deputy President of the senate as confirming the return of Mrs Ekweremadu.

“Yes. She’s released now. She is currently in Nigeria,” the former aide, who asked not to be named, said.

According to the Premium Times report, going by the pronouncement of the UK court, Beatrice has not completed her jail term which was four years and six months.
It is unclear for now if she was granted pardon in the European country, the paper reported.
