Associates of the detained Senatorial aspirant for Taraba Central District, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, have alleged that he is being pressured to relinquish his bid for the 2027 general elections.
According to the sources close to the detained aspirant who prefer to remain anonymous, the National President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-Cultural Association who is seeking to represent Taraba Central, the latest developments as a political gimmick intended to stifle competition, calling the move both discouraging and condemnable.
Bodejo was arrested in Jalingo on May 7, 2026, following a high-profile visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat. He was reportedly flown to Abuja and subsequently handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 10.
It was gathered that Bodejo has been advised by certain political interests to withdraw from the current race and wait until 2031, a suggestion his supporters have dismissed as laughable and pedestrian.
The Director General of his Campaign, Alhaji Adamu Isa Kurmi, condemned the manner in which the Senatorial aspirant was apprehended.
He argued that if there were genuine concerns, Bodejo should have been invited for a dialogue rather than being hounded away. by security forces.
“Those against his candidacy should not use security operatives to harass a legitimate aspirant,” Kurmi stated.
He further appealed to the APC National Secretariat and critical stakeholders to intervene, ensure justice is served, and secure Bodejo’s urgent release from detention.
Despite the mounting tension, the campaign council urged all supporters of Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo to remain calm and law-abiding while legal and political efforts to resolve the matter continue.
