Taraku Mills Limited is set for a test run this weekend as the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) steps up efforts to return the long-dormant industrial facility to production.
The development followed an inspection of the mill by the BIPC Board of Directors, led by the company’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, CFA, to assess the progress of ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation works.
During the inspection, Asemakaha took the Board through the facility and explained the various stages of work undertaken so far, as well as preparations for the test operation.
He said the planned test run would provide an opportunity to assess the performance of the rehabilitated equipment and identify areas requiring further attention before full-scale production begins.
The development marks another step in the efforts to revive Taraku Mills and restore it as a productive industrial asset in Benue State.
The Chairman of the BIPC Board, Lady Elizabeth M.N. Shuluwa, commended the management, technical team and workers of Taraku Mills for their dedication to the rehabilitation project.
Shuluwa also appreciated the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his support towards the revival of the state’s industrial assets.
She appealed to the people of the state to support the rehabilitation of Taraku Mills and other government-owned industries, noting that functioning industries could create employment opportunities, stimulate economic activities and strengthen the state’s industrial sector.
She said the revival of the facilities should be seen as a collective responsibility, urging stakeholders and residents to support efforts aimed at returning Benue’s industrial assets to productive use.
