THE Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Taraba State University, TSU, Jalingo Branch, has issued a final 14-day ultimatum to the Taraba State Government to implement the outstanding provisions of the FGN/ASUU 2025 Agreement or face industrial disharmony.

The union warned that it would explore all lawful measures to protect the welfare of its members should the state government fail to address the contentious issues by Monday, September 28, 2026.

In a statement signed by its Branch Chairman, Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, the union stated that the notice takes effect from September 14 to September 28, 2026.

While acknowledging the state government’s past dialogue initiatives, the union maintained that critical components of the agreement remain unfulfilled.

The statement read: “While we acknowledge the government’s commitment to industrial harmony and dialogue, we wish to note that some key provisions of the Agreement remain outstanding and require urgent attention.

“Consequently, ASUU-TSU issues a final 14-day notice effective from 14th September, 2026, to 28th September, 2026, urging the government to take concrete steps toward full implementation of the outstanding provisions.

“The union remains committed to peaceful engagement and constructive dialogue, but may consider lawful measures to protect members’ interests if the issues remain unresolved after the expiration of the notice.”

Mbave urged education stakeholders to intervene and ensure prompt government action to safeguard uninterrupted academic activities on the campus.

The union had earlier issued a 14-day strike notice on August 13, 2026, which expired on August 26. However, the chapter suspended its planned industrial action at the time to allow for the smooth conduct of the university’s combined convocation ceremonies.
